Million Dollar Holdings (MDH), the innovative new golf service company, has scored big by making its first major new signing – former England international footballer Alan Shearer.
MDH, which recently formed an insurance company specifically for golfers called Golf Insurance 4 U, and incorporated the hugely successful Million Dollar Hole In One (MDHIO) business, snapped up strike legend Shearer as ambassador for its prestigious Million Dollar Club (MDC).
MDC is a membership scheme that delivers a wide range of benefits and offers as well as giving customers the opportunity to save more than £1,250 per year on household shopping bills, while giving the opportunity to earn loyalty points against its golf products, golf breaks, tee times, holidays, events and a new golf insurance cover.
And three-time Golden Boot winner Shearer, who netted an impressive 30 goals for his country in just 63 appearances and rattled in a Premier League record 260 in 441 appearances, has linked up in an ambassadorial role.
Shearer, who forged an excellent working relationship with MDH after playing in MDHIO’s competition last summer in Portugal, said: “I am delighted to be appointed as ambassador for Million Dollar Club. I love golf and so do these guys, so it really is a perfect match.
“I know Million Dollar Hole in One very well having played in the final. It is a fantastic idea and great fun. I just wish I could have got that hole in one, but I will be back to have another go, most definitely.
“But, as a company, the team there are always looking to build on some of their existing products and the Golf Insurance 4 is a must as you just don’t know what is around the corner. I have had many close shaves myself on the course – not just my own fault, so it certainly pays to have cover.
“And, as a bonus for any purchase of any of their products you get a year’s free membership of the innovative Million Dollar Club, as a thank you to the customer. I look forward to working with them in what is the start of some very exciting times.”
MDC also gives customer discounts on third-party products after MDC secured a partnership with some of the high street’s most popular and recognisable brands such as Argos, Boots, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, Amazon, iTunes, Sainsbury’s, Halfords, Caffè Nero, Mothercare, Wickes and Pizza Express.
MDH director Martin Tyrrell, who founded the popular MDHIO in 2004, and served as CEO of the organisation which has run a par-three challenge competition for more than 17 years, added: “We offer the best golfing products on the market and that is that reflected by our customers.
“And we believe that loyalty should be rewarded. The idea of the MDC membership card allows us to give something back and is a thank you for them choosing to use us. It is an idea that benefits both us as a company and the customer, so everyone gains out of it.
“We have a number of well-respected and much-loved partners on the high street, giving customers even more choice to redeem points and enjoy other incentives and offers.”
There are three levels of MDC membership – Platinum, Gold and Silver – and customers will receive a personalised membership card, allowing access to a host of other unique offers and exclusive deals.
MDH, which incorporated Million Dollar Hole in One (MDHIO), as well as established tour operators Leisure Link Golf Holidays and Golf Amigos, is the brainchild of industry veterans led by entrepreneurs Tyrrell, Kevin Stowe, Tracy Aslam, Doug Fisher, Jamie O’Doherty, Steve Ingle and Gordon Murray, who, together, boast more than 100,000 loyal golf customers between them.
